Reflection

A.     St. Vincent Pallotti writes about the Blessed Trinity:

"My God, in your infinite love you created me according to your image and likeness.  You gave me a free will.  Help me to use your gifts and improve myself so as to become totally your living image: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and image of your infinite qualities and perfections." (OOCC X 749)

or:

B.     St. Vincent Pallotti writes in the Rule:

"Immediately after rising and throughout the day all make the Sign of the Cross and renew their trust in God: to be strengthened by the power of the Father, to be enlightened by the wisdom of the Son, and to be sanctified bt the love of the Holy Spirit.   And as they bless themselves they may say: Of myself I can do nothing; with God I can do everything; I want to do everything for love of God." (OOCC II 305)

O Sacred Banquet

Reflection

A.     St. Vincent Pallotti writes about God and his creation:

"It was because he was moved by his infinite mercy towards us, that God undertook the Divine Work of creating all his creatures and conserving them in being.   This same mercy moves him to redeem, sanctify and glorify for all eternity the people whom he has created.  We must pray that we will always acknowledge and keep in mind the infinite love and mercy of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and thus be able to derive the greatest possible benefit from his love. This is the will of God for us, his most gracious and merciful plan."  (God, the Infinite Love, 6)

or:

B.     St. Vincent Pallotti writes about the Blessed Trinity and creation:

"Illuminated by Faith, I believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; in the one God who is eternal, infinite, immeasurable, incomprehensible: one God in three Persons.   My God, you are infinite goodness and as such you wish to give yourself infinitely to your creatures.  Filled with eternal love and mercy, you designed the work of creation in order to spend yourself totally in your creatures.  You have made all things for your use, providing everything we need for life.  We wish to use as much of what you have provided for us as is necessary to attain our last and blessed end." (cfr: God the Infinite Love, Med. I)

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

L.     Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
R. We kneel before you, the all-holy,
and thank you for all the graces
you have bestowed on us.
L. We praise and glorify you, heavenly Father.
R. You created the world out of nothing
by your loving, infinite power.
You have endowed us with understanding
and predestined us to become the image of your Son.
Through him we recognize and love you as our Father.
With him we see you in eternal splendour.
L. We praise and glorify you, only begotten Son,
Jesus Christ.
R. You became one of us out of love for us.
You redeemed us from sin and eternal punishment.
You reconciled us with your heavenly Father.
L. We praise and glorify you, Holy Spirit.
R. In baptism you gave us a share in your divine life
and made us heirs to God's kingdom.
In confirmation you sealed us with your life
and gave us a share in the work of your Church.
L. Most Holy Trinity, infinite goodness and mercy
give us union with Christ,
that one day all peoples and nations
will join in the praise of your glory.
R. Amen.

Examen

Reflection

A.     According to the law of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate,

the essence of the act of consecration is stated in these words: "For the greater glory of God, [...] I surrender, give and offer my whole self to the same Omnipotent God." (SAC Law 18)

or:

B.     St. Vincent Pallotti writes about our consecration:

"The spirit of the consecration indicates a public declaration of that holy obligation that every human being has, lay person, religious or priest, always to live in God, always to work for God, always to think and speak about God.  Bodily senses, spiritual powers and all things created are to be used for the greater glory of God, for our own sanctification and that of our neighbour." (OOCC III 142f)

We ask ourselves:

  • Are we aware that the Blessed Trinity lives and works in us? (Pause)
  • Are our prayers and labours directed towards the honour of God, or towards our personal gratification? (Pause)
  • Let us call to mind our hope to share in the life of the Blessed Trinity in the glory to come! (Pause)

Prayer

L.     St. Vincent Pallotti,
you desired to love the infinite God
in the most perfect manner possible.
R. Implore for us the grace
not to seek and desire the world, but God,
God in all and for ever.
L. Not the intellect,
not the will,
not the heart,
but God.
R. Not food and drink,
not clothing,
not tranquility,
not worldly goods,
but God.
L. Not riches and honour,
not dignities and recognition,
but God,
R. God in all and for ever.
L. Mary, Mother of faith,
through Christ you loved the Father, Infinite Love,
and you responded to his incomprehensible work of of salvation
more perfectly than all the angels and saints.
R. Pray for us
that we may recognize God, the Infinite Love,
and respond to the plans of our Creator
with the greatest possible perfection.
L. Eternal Father, for your infinite honour and glory
we unite ourselves
to the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross
and to the obedience of his mother.
R. We thank you
as if you had already given us the grace
to know and to love you for ever. Amen.

Intercessions: Keep us this night, Lord...
or   Intercessions: Let us pray for vocations...

Blessing

L.     May our evening prayer rise up to you, O Lord
and may your mercy descend upon us.
Yours is the day and yours is the night.
When the light of day fades away,
let the light of your truth shine on us.
Remain with us through the stillness of the night
and lead us, one day, to our eternal fulfillment.
We ask this through Christ, O Lord.
R. Amen..
L. May the kind and merciful God bless and protect us:
the Father + and the Son and the Holy Spirit .
R. Amen.

If no priest or deacon is present, this formula of blessing is replaced by the Leader as follows:

L.      The Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil,
and bring us to everlasting life.
R. Amen.
