PALLOTTINE HEROES

Brother Heinrich Krallmann S.A.C.

Brother Henry Krallmann, of the Province of the Most Holy Trinity, died at Beagle Bay, Australia, on 5th January 1951. He was born on 8th November 1874 in Dersum, Emsland, in the Diocese of Osnabrück. He was a farmer. On 15 September 1898, aged twenty three years he entered our Society at Limburg. His main duty there was to manage the farm. On 12th April 1901 he made his First, and three years later his Final Profession. In the same year 1904 he went to Australia.

At Beagle Bay Brother Krallmann especially maintained, through 22 years of hard work, the large herds of cattle, which were the economic base of the Mission. Weeks and even months he had to travel through these vast areas, with some indigenous helpers, to dig wells, look after the cattle, mark them and drove them to safe places. Although, in carrying out this work, he had to go for a long time without priestly assistance and wasn’t able to take part in the spiritual exercises of the community, he still did not lose his spirituality but as time went on deepened it.

Later Brother Krallmann also helped in the hard work of establishing other stations, namely Rockhole (1934) and Tardun (1928). He died aged 77, two months after his Golden Jubilee of profession.
